Memory foam or visco-elastic foams are often used as material in mattress pads. Memory foam mattress pads have been found to induce excellent quality of sleep due to unique pressure relieving properties of memory foam. Besides pressure, Memory foam used in making memory foam pads reacts to temperature of the body and thus offers additional benefits. Pressure relieving, reaction to temperature and greater density are the qualities of memory foam pads that are capable of providing comfortable and quality sleep by creating weightlessness sensation. Memory foam was developed by NASA to counter high pressure created by extreme gravity force during take off of space shuttles.
